The Aveiro Cathedral, it is the old Church of Santo Domingo, founded in 1423 by the infant D. Pedro and it is in the Millennium Square, one of the most important monuments of the city. It is a temple with a Latin cross plant and a single nave with side chapels, which formed part of the Convent of S. Domingo.
The Cathedral has examples of religious architecture, Mannerist (chapels), Baroque (high choir, vaults and cruise) and modernist (transept and chancel).
In 1996, it was classified as a building of public interest by the ex-IGESPAR. (Instituto de Gestão do Património Arquitectónico e Arqueológico, I. P).
