Classified as Nature and Adventure Hostel, the Alijó Youth Hostel is a good starting point to explore the Douro Natural Park and the activities related with the nature.
The Hostel provides 25 rooms, café / bar, hostel kitchen, hostel laundry, living room and parking. In the proximities, there is a train station.
Alijó is located at the interior of interiors, but where there is a little bit of everything and for all the tastes. On the Douro International Natural Park, it can be done adventure sports. At the mouth of the Tua River, it can be done fishing. There are also the fluvial beaches of the Douro River.
It also highlights in the region, the gastronomy, with the roasted lamb, the Portuguese Stew, the tripas à transmontana, the smoked meats, the ball of meat, and the corn of the mountain area, as well, the local confectionery, with the cavacas and covered almonds of Santa Eugénia, quinzinhos, almond pudding, water sponge cake and the borrachão cake.
