This Youth Hostel located in the municipality of Calheta on the São Jorge Island, one of the greenest islands of the Açores.
At the Hostel, there are 19 rooms, café/bar, esplanade, hostel kitchen, living room, meeting rooms, internet, lockers for luggage and parking.
São Jorge is an unusual place, with all its fajãs and hazzy mountains. On the Island, it can be done several activities in contact with the nature, as nature walks, cycling, swimming, fishing (recreative fishing or submarine fishing).
The submarine fishing is very appellative, because of the richness of fauna and flora of the ocean and of the beautiful rock formations. As an alternative to the sub aquatic observation, it is possible to opt by the Whale Watching enterprises and spent some time with the whales and the dolphins.
On the Island, there are also delicacies such as tuna and the São Jorge cheese. In São Jorge, there is also a spot recognized internationally for the practice of surfing, the Fajã of the Cubres.
In Calheta, as places of interest, it highlights the Church, the Brotherhood of the Santa Casa da MIsericórdia, the Church of Santo António, the Empire of the Holy Spirit, the building of City Hall and the Museum of São Jorge, installed in a beautiful nineteenth century building, dedicated to the history and to the ethnography of the beautiful island of São Jorge.
It also highlights theLargodo Cais, which marked the economic development of the village and of theIslandand the Garden Francisco de Lacerda.
